Silverdale Surgery Center is a three OR facility. The project was designed and permitted when the owner asked us to become involved. We reviewed the layout and made several modifications to the original design in order that the facility could be accredited. The layout and sizes of the OR’s were changed to meet certification requirements, emergency exits were enlarged, the waiting area, business office and break room were modified. We also recommended that the owner change to a supervised sprinkler system. Because the ASC was less than 10,000 SF no compartmentation was required which eliminated costly fire walls, smoke and fire dampers.
