Coastal Internal Medicine is a free standing 6,000 SF wood frame clinic. It is a very compact and economical design for four primary care providers and also houses a small lab facility. The focus of the plan is very tight working patterns for the providers and line of sight views to exams from the nurse stations. There is a small trellis and healing garden area outside the waiting room windows for patients to view. Natural light is introduced into the building with windows at the ends of corridors, through a light scoop at the nurse station and with lots of windows in the waiting area. The project took about six months to build and was occupied at the end of 2007.
