A Better Nurse Station    Natural Light    Working Patterns    Way Finding
Natural Light

Natural Light is an essential ingredient for a healing environment. Scientific studies show it is healthier for patients and staff when natural light is used in buildings. Here are some of the benefits of natural light for your next project:

  • Decreases a patient's anxiety.
  • Reduces the staff's stress.
  • Provides a sense of orientation through a connection to the outside.
  • Lowers lighting costs.
  • Lowers staff turnover.
  • Increases staff and patient well being.
  • Helps recruiting new physicians.
Natural Light

There are three critical areas that need natural light. The first is the waiting area (shown in the photo above). Natural light here sets a positive and friendly tone for the entire office. The second area is the nurse station where natural light can be a big morale booster for your staff. The third location is at the ends of long corridors. Natural light here helps patients with orientation by making a connection to the outside. Implementing these tips in your next facility will give you a much friendlier and healthier facility.
